In 2146‘s Meldelaide, the joint oceanic nations have developed new currencies that celebrate their heritage and indicate their aspirations for the future, as mankind explores new ways of surviving under the impact of global climate change, when several cities are submerged by the sea.
Even though mankind has planned a way of life for itself, it lacks some thought about the protection of animals and plants. Rising sea levels are flooding not only the homes of humans, but also the habitats of animals and plants. My design therefore focuses on the role that animals and plants play in the area, drawing attention to them by way of currency. In addition to this, the local aboriginal people deserve the attention of the community, they do not have the advanced civilization or technology and the sinking of the cities will have an impact on them, so I have also incorporated elements of Australian aboriginal culture into the design to achieve this.
